This is a book in a series and on that needs to be read in order. The series is under Sisters of the Moon, and starts with Witchling.
This book is told from the perspective of Menolly.
This is another roller coaster ride in the series. The story eventually links back with some of the hangovers from the previous book. The missing Fae are found, one villian goes down while another threat rises. A hint at another mystery to be solved. Menolly makes some changes in her life, and as always, the sisters continue to balance the chaos they call life.
Another excellent installment in the series.

Undead Pool by Kim Harrison (audio version)
This is a book in the Rachel Morgan or The Hollows series. It needs to be read in order. The first book is Dead Witch Walking.
I thought since the library had this on audio and I hadn't read it and I follow the series, I'd listen to the audio book. This is the second one, I have heard. I still prefer reading the book, but listening to one once in a while is a nice change of pace, and an easy way to catch up on books I want to read.
The only issue I have with this audio book is I thought since the book is told by Rachel Morgan's perspective that it would be just the narrator. Nope, she did character voices. That threw me off for a moment but I eventually let go and got to enjoy the book.
This is the second to last in the series, and it has some major revelations and character growth and changes. This story is the typical action pack, character rich tales in the world of the Hollows.
Interstellar
This film was pretty good. The story line was well balanced between on and off planet action. What disappointed me was the opportunity to create worlds with interesting features, something less ordinary.
But the film is worth watching on the big screen. I doubt it would have the same impact on the small screen. In my opinion the critics have gone a bit too gaga for this film, though it worth watching.

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
This is the last book of The Mortal Instruments series. If you haven't read this series, I suggest starting with the Infernal Devices trilogy which is a prequel to this series because certain references will make more sense if you do.
The first book in The Infernal Devices is Clockwork Angel and City of Bones is the first of The Mortal Instruments.
This book was pretty good, a typical tale in this series, with a few twists and turns that weren't expected.
The epilogue was way too long, and a bit dull. Plus, to be honest, I wouldn't mind a story that wasn't a little too conveniently tied up with a bow at the end. After all, not all fairy tales ended in happily ever after.
But the story was good and does connect into the next trilogy.

Dracula : Untold
I really like the idea of mashing actual history, with the fictional, famous Bram stoker vampire.
Would have liked it in 3-D. The story was well done. Flows well, and seems to be more believable, than Bram's version of Vlad becoming Dracula. This Vlad is much more human, you understand the choices he made, why he made them. You sympathize with me. I really liked the balanced of man and monster.
Even like the tie in, at the end to Bram Stoker's version. Worth seeing. A good real vampire film, nothing mushy or soft about the vampires in this film.
Oh, and Stoker's Dracula is a good read.

Atlas Shrugged (film) Part III : Who is John Gault?
This is the last part of the three films.
I watched the two previous installments based on the book Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rynd. Even though this a lower budget film, and the actors keep changing for the most in each part of this film. I have never read the book, which is huge, by the way and was originally released in three separate parts. The audio book is fifty discs in total, if you were wondering.
Anyway, the actor changes aren't a really big deal, they do a good job of refreshing you of who is who. This is one of those works that gets one thinking about how things are, and where things could end up in the future.
For a low budget film that raised the money to make, each part is well done and flows well. Really, overall not a bad film and from what I can tell, adapted decently for the big screen. Really is worth checking out. Of course, the first two parts should be seen before the concluding on.

Skin Game by Jim Butcher
This is an installment in The Dresden Files. This is a series that is best read in order. The first book is Storm Front.
This is one of those books where major changes take place and characters grow in big ways. A typical installment in the series. Once it grabs you, its a roller coaster with story twists and turns you don't expect, and revelations that keep you wondering where and what will happen in the next book. Worth the read, not disappointed at all. A perfect installment to a series I love.

Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (audio edition)
I was interested in checking out The Game of Thrones television series and really enjoyed it. I was curious about the book and what would be different from the television series, but it was one of those books that I wasn't reeled into checking out.
Well, I had recently bought a MP3 player and the library had the book on audio so I thought why not.
I have never listened to an audio book before. I think this was a good choice. The narrator did character voices, though I would have been fine with just telling the tale. It was worth the twenty-eight parts totaling about 33 hours and some minutes plus seconds.
Whether in book or audio form, the story is well balanced, with a plethora of interesting people and places. A good balance of intrigue and character development. Worth checking out and as for the television series, it stays true enough to the book, though there were some scenes in the show that were changed and were better in the book, the battle was one of them. But still, the series is well done.
I will probably, continue the series this way, though it will be a while before I move on to the next audio book in this series, or a different audio book tale.

Guardians of the Galaxy
I will be honest, the trailers I saw of this movie made me hesitant to see it. Though I have seen most of the other Marvel comic based films.
Since the film was doing well, and the local critic really liked it, I thought I'd give it a chance. I was surprised. I really enjoyed the characters, and the story plot. It really wasn't what I expected and the three-d was a plus. Worth seeing in the theater.

Lucy
The previews for this film told me it would likely be a decent tale to watch.
This film wasn't what I expected at all. The previews basically tell 75 percent of the story. I was expected something that wasn't in the category of Transcendence like stories. It was alright. Just wanted more action, more on her developing abilities, and a bit more story line. It could have been a bit more, but sadly, fell short.
Not worth paying theater prices for. Wait for the DVD or on TV.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
To be completely honest, I didn't expect much from this film. Didn't disappoint me nor did it surprise me. The very basic story line of this film left out the opportunity to really have any substantial character growth of any sort.
The movie felt long, and ok, there was the story twist I didn't expect, which was refreshing but otherwise, this film wasn't bad , wasn't great, just ok. The 3-D was a nice add as well as the x-d but not enough of a difference to pay to see it. Rent, borrow or wait for it to come to t.v. to see it.

Up from the Grave by Jeanine Frost
This series needs to be read in order. The first is Halfway to the Grave. (Night Huntress Series).
Sadly, this is the last book in the Night Huntress Series. This was a well done ending to the series. It soon grabs you and takes you on a roller coaster ride, with a few shocking turns and twists, along the way. I will miss Cat and Bones but at least they finally get their well deserved happily ever after. By the end of the book, nothing is left unanswered, all the secrets from Cat's past with Don are revealed, and the way things end up feels completely natural, and as one could see it ending. A series worth reading, and well done.

Jersey Boys
I was familiar with the Broadway show but have never seen it. Though I was not born and growing up when Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons were performing, I grew up listening to their songs as well as others, from the fifties, sixties, and seventies. So I was interested in seeing this.
I really liked this film. Though I don't know if or what was changed when it was put in film format, but the side comments directed to the audience and the way they were done, didn't take away from the film. Made it more personable. It had its moments of humor too. Well done and worth seeing, even if you know little or nothing about the Four Seasons and Frankie Valli.

Written in Red by Anne Bishop
I have enjoyed and read almost all of her previous works, still need to read the last Pillars of the World trilogy book. So I got interested in trying her Other series, and sad to say this is book number eight, I have tried and will never finish.
The idea for the world where humans are not on the top of the food-chain and have to share the world with shapeshifters, who take on one animal form and a human one, was interesting. The idea of a blood scribe, in this world was intriguing. The start of the book began to draw me but the further I went, I kept struggling to want to read the book some more.
I tried again and again to become fully immersed with this new world and six chapters later, 132 pages to be exact, I decided to move on.
I think my main problem is connecting with Meg who is center character in this tale. The prologue was good but Meg needed to start in the compound and let the reader see what kind of life she had, really see it, not just in memories, but actually. The reader needed to follow Meg's escape into freedom, then have the book continue to where it started.
Plus, this tale seemed to drag, having it's moments, but slow from the other books I have read from hers. Keep in mind, I don't need shock and awe to find a story interesting, it just has to pull me into the world, have characters I can relate to on some level and care about, this book falls sway short of what I expected. I was so disappointed.
I can't recommend this story but any of her others are good reads.

X-Men Days of Future Past
I have watched all the current x-men films. This installment was an interesting idea, and wasn't bad though it is not one of my favorites. I wouldn't buy it on DVD, though I would probably watch it again if it was on television or someone else was watching it.
I liked the idea of having the past meet the future, story line. Interesting twists and turns, with characters. It has its moments of humor. The story was good but I did have one issue with the ending : since the past was changed the future was too, and not to spoil it, there had to be some really big changes, and how accurate would that be in line with the previous films? Besides, that, it was worth seeing on the big screen, given certain things wouldn't quite have the same feel on the TV size screen.
Though except for spin off origin films, it looks like, unless you have more stories with young Xavier, and the x-men, that for the time being, that the x-men series has ended, for now, until maybe a reboot of some sort.

Autumn Whispers by Yasmine Galenorn
This is part of the Sisters of the Moon series and needs to be read in order. Each book is narrated and focused on one of the three sisters. The first book is Witchling.
This book is focused on Delilah. This is also one of those books where you have some major game changes, and leaves some of the story unresolved.
Another good installment in the series. Major changes that will affect everyone and have effected everyone one in one form or another. In this tale, its another roller coaster ride, from personal changes good and bad, raging war, and two new problems, one minor in retrospect to what the sisters deal with and one that could cause a lot of problem on Earth side.
As usual a good read balanced out with character growth and action. A bit surprised on how it ended though, felt a bit off to me, but the tale is definitely worth the time to read, and at times hard to put down.

Maleficent
I'll admit this peeked my interest when I saw the previews. Even though it was more if I see it fine, if not fine kind of film.
I have seen some of the re-envisioned fairy tales, from Ever After, one of my favorites, to Red Hiding Hood, not one of my favorites and a few in between. This film already had a nice twist to the tale by showing it from the villains side.
Angelina Jolie was a great pick for this character. She is Maleficent. a perfect fit.
I liked the balance in the traditional cartoon version and how they twisted some of those things into this version in a way that still paid homage to the classic original Disney Classic, and fit into the tale well. The 3-D is a nice extra to the film. It was good film, and one I would suggest watching if there wasn't anything you were waiting to see in the theater.

Godzilla 2014 Release
I have seen a lot of the old Godzilla films black and white and technicolor ones as a kid. I even saw the one with Matthew Broderick in it, which I liked, though Godzilla looked more like a mutant iguana.
But this version, though Godzilla, does seem to have put on some pounds, form the classic version, is well done.
The 3-D is definitely worth the extra cash to see the film. Its a good balance of monster, action, and story. Mostly on a believable scale, there is a slight hole in the story when dealing with the monsters, I won't spoil anything, and the soldier, Ford, seems to be the luckiest and well rounded soldier out there, but otherwise, the story is worth seeing on the big screen. Well done.

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
This is the third and final book in The Infernal Devices Trilogy. The first book is Clockwork Angel. This is the same author of The Mortal Instruments Series: Which starts with City of Bones, in case you didn't know or what to delve into the world of The Shadow Hunters again.
If you haven;t and want to read City of Bones, I suggest reading this trilogy first because there are connections and comments on occasion that make more sense if you do. Just a friendly suggestion.
It was Clockwork angel that made me interested in trying City of Bones. I have for the most part liked The Mortal Instruments series, but this trilogy is better in my opinion.
Clockwork Princess takes place two months after Clockwork Prince. It starts with the planning of the wedding, and from there the story soon becomes a roller coaster ride. A row of dominoes one event starting another till the end. All is soon revealed.
I did have a few issues in this story. You build up a bad guy in two other books, and then in like a paragraph, though a slightly ironic death, its over.
To be honest, I would have rather not have had the epilogue addition. To me it just didn't feel right. I can't say anymore without spoiling it.
The last thing was, once you got past the climax, the book felt slightly too long. Things could have been moved forward more quickly and summed up efficiently with out losing anything to the story.
Otherwise, this was good end to a great story. Worth the read.

Amazing Spider Man 2
I did see the first film. I really like the change in the Spider man reboot.
This sequel had a good balance of action, and story. One of those game changer tales for the character. Liked the change in the Green Goblin. Felt more realistic than the previous version with the mask. An excellent installment and I liked the peek of possible future bad guys. 3-D was a great plus for this film too. Added the right zing to it. Worth seeing in the theater.

Kitty in the Underworld by Carrie Vaughn
This book is part of the Kitty Norville series. It needs to be read in order. The first book is Kitty and the Midnight Hour.
This is one of those books in a series, that I didn't outright hate but it wasn't as good as it predecessors. The story started out kind of interesting. Keep in mind, I don't need a book full of action and adventure. But it has to have a story that keeps me interested.
I think the captivity focus, which , yes, is an important part of the tale, felt a bit too long. It got better, when things were being learned, and characters were actually verbally interacting. But when it really started moving, it got so much better, and I found it hard to put down.
But it still wasn't the typical Kitty tale.

Transcendence
This was one of those if I see it fine, if not , no big deal films. I agree that this film is slightly on the lines of Lawnmower Man.
It wasn't a bad film. A bit slow, at times. It 's one of those get you thinking type stories, this one focused on the age old question of what makes us human? Is it intellect? Emotion? Ability to reason? Also brings up morality and science, just because you can, should you do it? All the more relevant in the technological age we live in.
Would I suggest paying good money to see this film, not really. If you really wanted to go out to the movies and there was nothing new to see, then it might be worth the cash. probably better to wait and rent it though.

Ghoul Goblin by Jim Butcher
I'm not a big fan of graphic novels. It's not that I have a thing against the genre, I don't. It's just I can go through a story in an hour or so.
This is the second Graphic Novel that is an original Dresden Files story. The first is Welcome to the Jungle. He does have his first two novels, Storm Front and Fool Moon in graphic novel form.
I enjoyed this story, and it's nice to Dresden out of Chicago and in another state. The story was well written, with a twist here and there. The graphics still just as lovely and well done, art work. Typical Dresden tale, not disappointing, and worth the time to read it. I waited till it came out in the complete tale. It was released in segments originally.

God's Not Dead
I have seen christian based films and this is one the best I have seen, that isn't based on a bible story.
This film reminds me of Crash in a way, because you have these characters, who aren't all involved and know each other, start crossing paths, as the story progresses. Characters are very real, and some do play themselves, such as The Newsboys, and Willie from Duck Dynasty.
Tale keeps you interested, and doesn't feel long at all. Well written and over all well done. Worth checking out.

Captain America : The Winter Soldier
I never saw Captain America, wanted to. Sad, to say, I bought it on DVD and still haven't seen it, as of yet. But you don't have the see the first to see the second installment. The film fills in the facts you need to know.
Watching this movie in 3-D does help pull you into the tale a bit more. From the beginning this story pulls you in and once it gets going it grabs you and takes you on a wild roller coaster ride. A lot of action weaved into an interesting tale, with the right bit of humor mix in. An enjoyable, action packed ride. Worth seeing on the big screen.

Bridge of Dreams by Anne Bishop
This is the last of the Ephemera trilogy. The first book is Sebastian.
It took me a little while to get into this installment. I think the issue was the time between the last book and this one, taking place a month later. The issue I had was the change in Lee. I won't go into details, because I hate spoilers, but I think if the lapse of time was a few days leading to a month later, and the reader could follow Lee from the time of his sister's return, then I really think I could have re-immersed into the books world faster than what I did.
Once I got into the story, I really enjoyed it. It definitely the Anne Bishop style I know. This installment was well balanced. Enough character growth, action, and emotion. New and interesting characters grab you and pull you deeper into the story. The only issue: and this is more on a personal interest, if you read the story, besides like I've said before, no spoilers. But I was curious about the question Teaser wanted answered, and it never was.
Otherwise, an ending that did leave room for more tales, but left the reader satisfied, for the most part. Definitely, enjoyed visiting the wild child and the people who live with him.

Shifted
This is my original work. It is copyrighted on this date. Original Poem
There was a time I thought you loved me, I time I thought you cared. Not because we share blood, but because you chose to. Well, now I am a bit older, not sure how much wiser, but something has shifted. Have we really grown apart? You seem to see what you want to see, not concerned if what you perceive is fact or fiction. Living in your own reality, oblivious to me. What once was said in love, now seems spoken out of frustration, maybe even disdain. When you once listened and cared, you now berate, belittle, command. The person who listened, and loved, seems forever lost. Tearing down what once was built from genuine love. If love is patient, love is kind… Why am I falling apart bit by bit, piece by piece? Left in a pile of rubble, feeling useless, ugly, unloved, unwanted, a nuisance, an idiot. A fool and a failure. Invisible. Now when I need you, as you once were, all I get is discord, not understanding. You seem to forget that I AM HUMAN. I feel, I bleed, I hurt, I cry. I feel small, a nobody. I have dreams, and wishes, hopes, and fears. I breathe, I eat, I have wants as well as needs. I AM NOT A ROBOT. Which you seem to think. I don’t need you to make me feel bad, I can do that all on my own. I miss the way things were, but the past is gone. What you think is out of love, has only made me feel worse. You choose to ignore and destroy what little bit of hope and faith I have left. Deaf to my pleas, and concerns, it all seems to circle right back to you, so you feel guiltless and secure, a success. All it ever seems is I do things to please you. Whether or not there useful or beneficial for me. I really do think you live in your little world, ignoring reality. Forgetting things change. Things evolve. Now that I need you more than before, you’re not there. I turn around and only see an empty space, that was contained a loving, caring person. Now all it is a space full of air.

Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews
This is one book in the Kate Daniels series. This is a series best read in order. The first book is Magic Bites.
This is one of those books in a series where things take a dramatic turn and things really change for the characters. I won't spoil anything, but this installment has ups and downs and twists and turns, soon after the story starts.
It all starts with an offer the pack can't refuse. An assignment as body guards of a werewolf carrying twins, by different fathers. A pawn used to lure Kate by someone from her past, and that is just the beginning of an intricate weaved story.
Worth the time to read it. A wonderful installment to the Kate Daniels series.

Omens by Kelly Armstrong
I have read Armstrong's other works. So when I heard about Omens, and read what it is about, I got interested. I have read her paranormal Otherworld Series, and her fiction about Nadia Stafford. But to me Omens, seems to have lost balance the balance that her other supernatural books have. This needed to either have more supernatural, or be just plain fiction.
At points, the book gets really interesting. I did like the segue's into character thoughts after something happened. The characters are interesting. The story has potential and to be honest, I had trouble at times, wanting to get back into the story. I wasn't even sure I wanted to read the next one, till it hinted at being more supernatural, so I probably will give a try.
I really hope the next one is more like her other works. I won't say I was completely disappointed. It was just I could see subtracting the supernatural, and tweaking a few things, and it could be a good mystery.Or tweak a few things another way, and it would be a better supernatural tale.

I, Frankenstein
I thought from what previews I saw that this film would have been a bit more action packed with it. It wasn't a bad film, it was good, but to me felt like it could have been a bit more. I wonder what was in the graphic novel it was based on.
I know from previous book adaptations, that sometimes things are cut form the story to make it flow better on screen. But it felt like as soon as the monster meets the girl, the story ended. I wanted more to that encounter, a bit more on the gargoyles, even the demons.
Like I said, not bad. Probably, better seen on the big screen, and the 3-D isn't a bad plus.

Lily
Prologue
All kingdoms have their beginnings. The
three great kingdoms of Viperion, Ghoston, and Chameleon, were no different.
Legend has it that there were three brothers, each given a gift. The eldest,
who was renowned for his cruelty, had the gift of the Viper. He was immune to
poison, moved as quietly and swiftly like a predator.
The middle brother was given the ability
to vanish from site, down side, had to be nude to not be seen. Clothes didn't
vanish. He was known as to be kind and gentle, and a just ruler. Last but not
least, was the youngest brother of the three; he was given the ability to blend
into his surroundings. He was known as crafty thief.
Lily was beauty. Soft, raven black hair,
deep dark eyes. Skin just the right hue, not too dark, not too light, perfectly,
feminine and asymmetrical face and not a blemish anywhere on her skin. She was
the woman that turned heads, everywhere she went.
But some choices are ours, and others are
not. Lily was chosen by random, a raffle to appease the High King of Viperion.
Part of the peace treaty required that a certain percentage of the population
were sold into slavery, a way to remind people that there is a cost for war,
and a cost for peace.
***
Lily was one of three that were chosen for
the private auction. The High King was getting married, and his friends, wanted
to get him a gift. Since the king had a Contractual marriage, he had the right
to have a Pleasure slave.
She was the last to be seen. She was
completely naked. Most of her body hair had been shaved or trimmed as needed.
Her once really long hair had been cut shorter but still at a length to keep it
feminine. The men looked her up and down. Thankfully, they could not touch her.
This was a bit of relief for Lily.
She was soon bought and paid for. A room
at the Pleasure House Vices was arranged for her. The High King could have his
females, but unless, she was a Mistress, she had to live outside the palace.
Vices was the closest Pleasure House, so she would be sent there.
The room was nice but simple, a bed, a
small table and chair and a small wardrobe. She was lucky to have a private
bath. Few rooms had this luxury. A chest in the corner contained the simple
tunic and pull over style dresses she had, and the one pair of sandals she had.
The wardrobe contained outfits chosen for the High King. Lily was informed he
would send word, ahead of time, to tell her what she should wear and when he
would arrive.
She was to be available for the High King
at anytime, but in her free time, she was to help out with housework. Laundry,
sweeping, mending, or whatever needed to get done. She would have time to
herself. She was introduced to the healer and met some of the other women in
the Pleasure House.
As soon as it was appropriate for the High
King to do as he wished, without ruffling any feathers, he set word to the
Pleasure House. Lily, had heard about the king, and he was cruel as a Viperian
could be. She had wanted better than this, but she deal with the hand she was
dealt, no matter how bad it is.
Lily was wearing a sheer cream gown that
was held up by a tie around her neck. It was sleeveless. The time came to meet
her master. It would also be the first time she was with a man.
The high king entered the room, and Lily
just stood by the bed. Her hair was down and a light touch of makeup on her
face, just like he wanted. He was wearing a wrap around robe, which he removed,
and let fall on the floor. He was barefoot and wearing nothing else.
She did her best to keep her eyes down and
not access him, though she saw that Bullton was more than an appropriate name.
Fit his disposition and physical attributes. As he looked her over, she
shivered just slightly, feeling his hard, cold gaze.
He approached her and undid the tie,
letting the slip of a gown fall to the throw. He never took his eyes off her.
She saw the cruel gleam in the ice cold golden eyes. Instead of the soft,
exploring, loving, caresses of a lover, she got hard, cruel, touches,
demeaning, and harsh. He explored every inch of her, every crease, and every
intimate place.
He then grabbed her by the hair, and
forced her face down on the bed, her lower half hanging off the edge. That was
only the beginning. He couldn't cause as much pain or gain as much pleasure,
from taking her that way, that he soon flipped her over, so she faced him, took
his knee and spread her legs, and continued. Each thrust going deeper and
causing more pain. He enjoyed seeing the tears in Lilies eyes, and hearing her
nearly scream in agony.
He soon climaxed and released her. He
grabbed his robe, wrapped himself up, and left her, leaning against the side of
the bed. As soon as the door closed, she slid to the floor and grabbed her
legs, pulling them up toward her chest, and just cried.
Three women entered the room, followed by
the male healer, who Lily had met and been examined by. One woman headed toward
the bathroom and started a warm bath. She added a few things to help ease
Lily’s discomfort and help her relax. Another woman, had brought fresh linens,
and a cleaning kit to use in the room as needed. The third was called Astrid,
and she and Lily had bonded. She now held Lily in her arms, and just let her
cry.
As soon as things were set in the
bathroom, Astrid got Lily to her feet and Goodwin, the healer, examined her. To
his relief the brute didn't do any permanent damage, and even though there were
ways to quickly heal such wounds, they could cause damage to women’s
reproductive abilities, if used after a Virgin’s first time. So even Pleasure
slaves, were given a proper time to heal. So for now, Lily, wouldn't have to
deal with her master, for about six weeks.
Goodwin did suggest that she have a few
days to rest, and be left alone. Astrid was allowed to keep her company. The
Mistress of the house was a good woman, and she understood, the way Viperians
could be, so she was flexible when slaves needed time to recover not just
physically, but emotionally. Even if that met, giving another slave a bit off
time off.
Astrid and Goodwin made sure that Lily
would recover physically. There would always be some level of emotional scars.
But they would be there for her, and help her as much as they could.
Time passed, and again the time for Lily
to be with her master. Every time he visited, he found a new way to degrade
her, to make her feel like all she was, was property, a toy for him to do with
as he pleased, always leaving her in pain. But she was a survivor, a fighter, if
other women could survive this type of life, she could too.
Months of abuse, and then she found out
she was pregnant. Bullton could take the child as his own, but he wanted
nothing to with him or her. That left Lily, fearing her child would be sold as
a slave, unless a nobleman or noblewoman, decided to support the child. The
only good thing that happened due to the pregnancy was Lily, was soon left
alone, because of her changing body. But the more she changed, the more she
feared for the child she carried. She knew as soon as the baby was born, he or
she would be taken away and Lily would get a shot that would dry up her milk supply
and after a time of proper healing, same risks like Virgin Night, she would be
forced to spend time with her master.
***
Lily was five months pregnant when the
Mistress of the house, ask to see her.
“Please, take a seat, Lily.” Lily sat in
the chair across from Prospera, the Mistress of the Pleasure, who was behind a
mahogany desk.
“A Patroness has come forward and is
interested in your child.” Lily was visibly relieved.
“She has made arrangements to have the
child raised near here, and you will be permitted to visit, once a week,
minimum. She wants you to be a part of your child’s life. After the child is
born, we’ll work out the details. Go get Astrid and take a walk. Relax. Stress
isn't good for you and the baby.”
“Thank you.”
“Go on.” Lily got up and left the office
feeling much better.
***
“One more time, bear down, and push.”
Goodwin said. Soon the cries of a baby followed.
“A
beautiful, healthy baby girl.” Goodwin handed the baby off to Astrid to get
cleaned up.
“After you get cleaned up, Mistress
Prospera, has given permission for you to spend a little time with your
daughter before the nurse maid comes for her.” Before he left the room, Goodwin
gave Lily the shot that would stop her from producing milk.
Lily got cleaned up with some help from a
couple of women, Jen, and Nia, who had been there at her Virgin’s Night. She
had become close with the women and trusted them.
Astrid soon returned with the baby, and
handed her to Lily. She had her mother’s hair, and deep dark golden eyes, a mix
of her father and mother in them. Lily knew she would do anything to protect
this precious little gift.
“And what is her name?” Goodwin asked as
he entered the room.
“I can name her?”
“Her Patroness wishes her to have the name
her mother chooses for her.”
“Her name is Auna.”
“A lovely name. Lily, this is Eda, she’s
the nurse maid. She and Prospera have made arrangements. It’s better for the
baby to with its mother as much as possible, after birth. So she will be
spending her time here, and her nights at Auna’s new home, till your recovered,
then you’ll visit her at least once a week. We’ll leave you three alone for a
bit.” The room quickly cleared out.
Lily and Eda
became close. Lily knew how lucky she was to still be able to be with her
daughter, in some capacity. Auna gave her another reason to fight and survive.
Something she could use.
***
The time came for Lily and Auna, to part
ways. Prospera knew that the High King wouldn't be back for a few more days, so
she made arrangements for Lily to see and meet the people that would be taking
care of her daughter.
Auna’s new home was only a few blocks. It
was a local boarding house. The family kept the third story as their home.
Lily, accompanied Eda and Auna, under the escort of two guards, sent by the
patroness. One was Viperian, the other, was from Lily’s home, The Dark Lands.
A few minutes, and they were at their
destination. The Bordering house was well tended. It had a home feel to it. A
woman was sweeping the porch, and she looked up at the group coming up the
stairs. She set the broom against the bench next to the door. A smile spread
across her face.
“Stahl, could you do me a favor, and get Michael.
He’s in the stables.” The Viperian guard headed toward the stables.
“Tryst, why don’t you and Eda, take Auna
inside. I’d liked to show Lily around, and get to know her better.”
“We’ll see you in a few minutes.” Eda said
in a whisper. Auna was sound asleep.
“Lily, I’m Key. The man coming with Stahl
is my husband, Michael. We’re friends of the Patroness.”
“You own the Boarding House?”
“I help my husband run it. It’s been in
his family for generations.” The men had now caught up. Key, made introductions
and the two men headed toward the kitchen. The woman headed out toward the
stables.
“Feel free to ask any questions, Lily.” Key
was showing her around, pointing things out.
“No children?” Lily asked, during one of
Key’s pauses.
“A grown
son. I had him before I met Michael. Injuries from my past have made it hard
for me to carry a child to term. Not impossible, just highly unlikely. My son
works for Auna’s Patroness. That’s how I know her. I promise Auna will have a
normal, as normal, childhood, considering. Michael and I will care for her as
our own child.” Lily didn't doubt her, and the more time she spent with Michael
and Key, the more she liked them and became friends with them.
Lily had at least once a week with her
daughter, but usually she had a few hours a day, to spend with her. She was
always escorted by the same two guards. She decided to get to know them better.
One day, she realized that Stahl had wished to be more. Of course, that wasn't
possible for now, and Lily wasn't sure even if that changed, if she could love
him the way he deserved. There was always a part of her that hated the Viperian
part of Stahl, not hated, more like distrusted.
***
Auna, and her friend, Rave went to go
play, with the new puppies. She was a bit over three years old. Stahl and Michael
went to watch the children. Key had wanted a moment with Lily. There were
rumors, now circulating that the High King might have a mistress. She hadn't
been made official yet, if she even existed.
“I’ll try to be brief. I think it’s time
to bring some of the past to light. Lily, there’s been something I've kept from
you. There hadn't seemed to be a reason to tell you, but now with the rumors
about the High King, it’s time to tell you. Once I do, I’d think you’ll
understand why.” Key, took a deep breath, and began her tale.
“I was seventeen when my world was ripped
away from me…”
***
A
group of Viperian nobles came to town. Key was lovely Desert girl. Well, girl,
that was blossoming into womanhood. She had the pale sand colored eyes, normal
for her people, a blend of reddish brown hair, curves in the right places, and
a balanced chest.
One of the Viperian’s took notice and
lusted after her. She wasn't of noble blood, so a wedding was out of the
question, not that he wanted one anyway. So he bided his time, patiently,
waiting for an opportunity to strike. When it did, he took it. Key put up quite
a fight, but in the end, lost her virtue. It was her word against his, and in
the end, to keep the truth quiet, she was sold to a brothel, and her parents
were left rich.
The only rules in a brothel, no visible
marks on the merchandise and the girls had to be left alive. Key was forced to
service men, till she became an undesirable lay due to her pregnancy. Then she
was put to work in the Gambling Hall, cleaning off tables, washing dishes, and such.
One day there was man from one of the
Pleasure houses, in the hall, and he saw Key. He asked about her history, and
bought her for his cousin.
Key was introduced to Prospera, and
Goodwin took her to an empty room to examine her. It was there she was told
that she might never have another child. She was also told her delivery would
most likely be rough. Prospera put her in a suite, so she had easy access to a
bathroom. She made sure she got the best care, and she spent her time doing
some light mending, and learning about running a business.
She
did have a tough delivery, but gave birth to a healthy baby boy, who she named
Stahl. Stahl was well educated, and even though he grew up in a Pleasure House,
he had a good childhood. His mother helped Prospera with office tasks, never
bedding a man she didn't want to. But she and her son were still slaves.
When Stahl was fifteen, he was put into
Consort training. Viperians weren't used as Consorts, but in other regions,
they were used as guards, and Consorts knew how to handle women. Making their
charges feel more comfortable with them. Of course the more intimate training
was put off till he was older.
When Stahl was eighteen and completed his
training, a Merchant Prince and his daughter came to the Pleasure House to buy
a few slaves. The daughter was reaching the age where she needed to pick some
of her own servants, slaves, or guards.
She chose Stahl, and knew about Key. She
made arrangements to buy Key, also. Well, one day when Key was in the market
place looking at cloth, when Michael nearly ran her, and one thing led to
another, and after Key gained her freedom, she married Michael.
***
“Why, didn't you tell me?” Key smiled.
“I didn't want you to feel obligated to
like Stahl, more than friends. Even if you could act on it.”
“I never even suspected.”
“He takes a lot after his father, look
wise. Everything else, he gets from me and knowing the right people.”
“About the other part, why, hide it?”
“Because I don’t do pity. I found a
patient loving man, who taught me that men can be gentle, caring, loving, and
folk. I know Bullton doesn't treat you well. I didn't want to compare cards. It
took time, but I learned to trust men again. I put my past behind me, and
looked toward the future.”
“I understand, does put things in
different light. Thank you for telling me.”
“It was the right thing to do. Now go on,
and spend time with your little angel.”
Auna was
four years old, when the High King publicly announced he had a mistress. Auna’s
Patroness made arrangements to purchase Lily, and move her and Auna in her
home. Only then, when the papers were signed that Lily found that the High
Queen was Auna’s Patroness. She wanted to keep her identity secret because she
didn't want Lily to think it was out of pity that she took care of Auna, or
that she felt obligated to do so. She had done it for her son, and for Auna.
Soon Auna and Lily were headed to their new
home.
“Ms. Rose.” Auna ran and wrapped her arms
around Rose. She picked the little girl and spun her around before putting her
down.
“Hi, Auna. I assume your mother is on her
way.” Auna was now petting one of the hounds. She had been to the palace on
occasion and all the animals knew and loved her.
“Highness.” Lily curtsied.
“Rose, is how people address me in this
part of the palace. Isla and Elanna will keep an eye of the children.” Rave had
heard the commotion and come out to see what was going on. He and Auna were now
the attraction of the not only the hounds, but several of the desert cats. They
loved getting attention, and thankfully, they never fought over it.
“If you’ll follow me, I’ll show you around
and show you your room and Auna’s room. I’m assuming Prospera filled you in on
the details of this arrangement.”
“She did. Help you with whatever you need
done.”
“Right, and don’t worry about Him, he
won’t be an issue. You’ll never see him.” Lily relaxed a whole lot. As she
showed Lily around, she introduced her to the other servants and guards. Her Consort
was busy finishing putting the furniture in Auna’s room.
“This is your room. I thought tomorrow we
could take the children and find furniture that fit your needs.” A bed, a small
dresser, a table and a chair, and a small vanity, was all the furniture in the
room.
“Ok. I don’t…” Rose cut her off with a
simple hand gesture.
“You deserve a place that reflects you. I
know you have a few basic items, clothes, toiletries, and a few other things,
but furniture isn't one of them. Let me know if you need any clothes, or
anything else. You’re family here. Blood doesn't matter or status. That
anything extends to Auna. Her bed was sent over and dresser from the Inn. They
were designed for her. I made arrangements that she can go see her aunt and
uncle, as she calls Michael and Key, or they can come here.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re very welcome. This room is Auna’s.
The bathroom connects to your room.” Each room had a bathroom, some connected
to adjoining rooms to accommodate families with children who lived on site.
“The man putting the toys away is my
Consort Blaze.” Blaze finished filling the chest with Auna’s toys, and
approached the two women.
“Blaze, this is Lily.” They shook hands,
and Lily looked around. Auna had her bed, dresser, a small vanity designed to
match, a gift from her Aunt and Uncle, and the walls had shelves for extra
storage.
“Auna likes it. She’s adorable and polite
little girl. She looks a lot like her mother.” Blaze said as they headed out of
the room.
“Thank you.” Blaze just smiled at Lily.
She would fit in just fine.
“Lily, how much do you know about the
Viperian gift?” Rose asked as they headed toward the garden. The kids were now playing fetch with the
dogs. Rose asked because Lily because she wasn't Viperian and even the common
blood Viperian’s knew little to nothing about it.
“Predator grace. Poison immunity. Not
much on the beast Mistress or Master gift.”
“Not surprised at all. The Special Master
or Mistress Gift is rare. One child a century if that has the gift. Most common
blood have just heard of it mentioned. Those with the gift can communicate with
the Saber Cats. Those mildly touched, which is more common, have a way with
animals in general. Every three years, all young Viperian children from the age
of four on up, are tested for the gift. Testing begins tomorrow at the High
Guard Academy. I thought since we were out in that area they could be tested.
It takes only a moment, and since you are Auna’s mother, you’ll be able to
attend the testing, if you want to. As Auna’s Patroness, I can represent her.”
“Ok, tomorrow. I’ll represent my
daughter.” Rose could already see a bit more change in Lily. Even though they
hadn't met personally, till today, she had seen her from time to time during
her visits with Auna. Lily was polite, but jumpy around any Viperian male she
didn't know, the same went for some men. She also didn't stand up and make
suggestions when asked about Auna. Key had asked for input time and again. Give
a plant some sun and watch its flowers begin to blossom.
“I figured you would. I’ll be there with
you to help with protocol issues.” It took only a little while but Lily began
to feel at home.
***
After a little shopping and a light lunch,
Lily and Rose took the children to get tested. Rose went inside first to take
care of paper work. Since Lily was a Darklander, Rose was in charge of Auna’s
paperwork since she was her Patroness. Rose also made sure they could have a
private testing so no nobles would be present in the area, waiting. Rose
figured Lily would be more comfortable and being High Queen did come with its
privileges.
“They’re ready.” Rose said from the doorway.
Lily breathed easier when the only people present were in charge of the
testing.
“Lily, this is Sedrick. He’ll explain to
the children what is going on. We watch and don’t interfere.” Rose introduced
the children to Sedrick and as soon as he knew the children understood what was
expected of them, he had two caged Saber cats brought in. One was male and one
female.
If a boy was a Master of Beasts, didn't
mean he would link with the male, the same for a Mistress of Beasts. That’s why
a male and female are used for the test. Age didn't matter for the cat. If a
child had the gift it wouldn't be till they were around fifteen that a Saber
cat would bond with them.
Auna was a bit hesitant to approach the
cages. Rave was a typical fearless boy. He slowly walked up like he was told,
Stopping at the painted red line on the floor. Counted to ten, and slowly moved
close to the cages and watched the cats. Neither paid him any attention, even
when he put his hand flat to the cage, as he was told.
Rave didn't have the gift, but he did have
a calming way with animals. That wasn't the only time his mother saw that
reaction with an animal that usually would never let a human of any age near
them. Auna didn't possess the gift either, though she seemed to be able to read
animal posture and behavior, by sheer instinct and no teaching. Rose and Lily
made sure to tell the children how well they did and took them to get a few
pieces of candy at a nearby store. Most parents did that after the test, a
reward for a job well done.
By the end of the day, Auna and Lily had
everything they needed to make their rooms more like a home, and then some.
After dinner, Rose wanted to talk to Lily,
so the children went to the stables to see the new foals.
“Lily, I know about you and Stahl. He
really likes you. I don’t have a problem if you’d like to start something with
him. Law makes me wait a year to free any slaves. Three quarters of the guards
and servants I have were slaves once. I’ll keep a trust account for you, and
pay you servant wages. Once freed the
account transfers to you.
I’m going to be bluntly honest with you. I
was in love once. He died. I put the idea of love out of my heart and took the
opportunity to help my homeland and the people under my charge. So I took it. I
never married Bullton for love. I knew the rumors of his cruelty; I didn't
expect to fall in love. Before I got married, I met Bullton’s daughter, Mitra.
We became friends. She pushed me into getting a Consort. That and a little
shove from her Grandparents, and I said I’d give it chance.
Blaze wasn't what I expected. Our first
time alone, and he picked up that I wanted to put my son to bed. He knew Rave
was my life. I fell for him, fast. But we had spent a lot of time together. I
knew he loved me, when he told me, that it was the good and the bad in my life
that made me who I am. He wanted all of me, and I've never been happier.
Stahl knows your past. He hasn't turned
tail and ran. He adores Auna and she likes him. Just because something is
cracked doesn't mean it’s broken. Just because something is broken, doesn't
mean it can’t be fixed. It just takes a little time, patience, and someone
willing to do the work.”
“Auna does
adore him.” Rose knew Lily was at least going to consider seeing Stahl, as more
than a friend. Rose had done what she could; it was now up to the two of them.
***
“I don’t know what else to do?” Stahl was
pacing in the room. Blaze, was calming gazing out the window.
“Start by taking a deep breath.” Blaze
said as he turned to face Stahl. He did, and sat in a nearby chair.
“Good. Now start from the beginning.”
Blaze said as he sat on the bed.
“I know she loves me. I proposed and she
turned me down. I understand why, after I thought about it. She feels like she
would be obligated to give herself to me. It doesn't matter what I say, or do,
there’s that part of her that fears that kind of intimacy.”
“I have an idea. Lily, will have to be
opened minded and I’ll have to ask Rose.” Stahl was paying full attention now.
“Consort training. But let the idea come
from Rose, or someone else, she trusts. Goodwin, says it has helped some women,
feel confident, and in control. I could suggest weapons training, but Lily, is
a bit too feminine for that. Rose, has tried, but she won’t even hit a dummy.
It’s worth a try.”
“Alright. I trust you.” Stahl looked
relieved.
“Don’t lose hope. Keep loving her.” Blaze
followed him out and headed toward Rose’s office. He told her plan and by the
end of the day it was in motion.
Auna
and Rave were visiting their grandparents who were Michael’s and Key’s Inn. It
was Key who approached Lily.
“I heard you turned my son down.”
“I do love him but the thought of anything
more than a kiss or holding hands, and I’m terrified.”
“He told me how you reacted when he put
his hand on the small of your back when you dancing. How you tensed up. You've
come a long way in the past year.”
“But not as far as I need to be for him.”
“How far are you willing to go for my
son?”
“You have an idea on what might help.” Key
smiled.
“Well?”
“I’ll do whatever I need to.”
“Good. Than I have a couple of people for
you to meet.” She led Lily to the back office. A Viperian man and a Darkland female
were seated in front of the desk.
“Lily, this is Jasper, and his wife,
Minka.” They stood and shook hands. Lily and Key grabbed some chairs and sat in
front of the couple.
“Key, and Prospera, told us about your
past. My husband is a half blood. His mother was a common blood Viperian. He
was trained to be a Consort, as was I. We owe a lot to Prospera, and when she
told us about you, we wanted to help. It’s what we have done off and on for
years. But you have to be open to wanting change. If you don’t we can’t help you.”
Minka said.
“I love Stahl and I want to be the woman
and wife he deserves. An example to my daughter. I don’t want to let Bullton
win.” Minka smiled.
“Good. We can start tomorrow. We can hash
out a game plan, before you leave. Key has no problem lending us a room. That
way no one has to know anything.” So plans were made, and Lily became more
determined to fight her fear.
***
So the next morning Lily began her
training. Things started out slowly. Spending time with Stahl was also part of
her training. This was to help her relax with him. On the side, Minka and
Jasper made suggestions on the types of activities that would help Lily, like
dancing.
It was when the more intimate training
began that Lily really had to summon up her courage. Unlike regular consort
training, Lily wasn't taught seduction, unless she wanted it. What she was
taught was to speak up for herself, feel sexy and confidant. Not an easy thing for
someone with Lily’s background. But she worked hard and in a few months,
decided that she needed to try a small step with Stahl. She wasn't sure what he
would think of it. Minka and Jasper thought it was good idea if she felt sure
about it.
Lily managed to grab Stahl for a moment,
after his lunch break. They had plans for dinner later but Lily was afraid she
might lose her nerve, and she had been going over what she would say all day
long in her head. She was afraid of going nuts.
“Stahl, I’m not sure how to say this, and
it’s going to sound a bit odd. Would you share my bed tonight?” Stahl took her
hand.
“I’d be honored.” Lily relaxed.
After their
dinner date, Stahl went to get cleaned up, and Lily went to clean up and
prepare for Stahl. For the first time in a while, Stahl really was hopeful. Lily
was changing. The scare Darkland pup was slowly growing her fangs.
Lily added more pillows for the bed. She
would wear a man’s pajama suit to bed. Not quite ready for sharing a bed with a
man, in her night gown. Stahl also wore a pajama set.
Stahl entered, and Lily realized how
boyish he could look. He let her make all the moves. He knew nothing physical
would happen, and he was fine with that. She was showing more trust in him, and
that was something he would not shatter.
She fell asleep in his arms. For a while,
Stahl, stayed awake, listening to her soft breathing as she slept. He realized
how much she loved him and how much he loved her. He hated having to sneak out
early, but Auna, wasn't old enough to understand things, yet. She always came
to get her mother for breakfast.
For a while, that’s how intimate thing
got. The two of them just sharing a bed, and cuddling together. Stahl would
take Lily anyway he could, and he would take what she gave him.
***
Lily felt a bit odd talking to Rose about
her love life, but somehow she mustered up the courage, what she wanted to ask
wasn't just for her, it was for him. She had finally and successfully finished
her consort training, and now was the next to final steps, to everything she wanted.
Lily was finally able to get Rose alone in
her office. She was busy signing paperwork related to the Trading Guilds. Lily
patiently waited in the doorway. Rose soon waved her in.
“What can I do for you Lily?” Rose caught
the slight coloring of her cheeks, and her hesitant body language.
“Why don’t you close the door and take a
seat?” Lily did. It helped her relax a bit. No one else would hear their
conversation.
“I’m not sure how to ask this, it’s kind
of personal.”
“Go on.”
“Mink had a suggestion that she hoped
would help me with Stahl.” Lily handed Rose a romance novel she had been
carrying with her. The man on the cover looked a bit like Stahl.
“Blaze converted the old aviary to a place
just for us, a place that only we shared. The bedroom was a potential problem
for us, because of Bullton. So if you’re thinking anything you ask, is odd,
it’s not.” Lily shifted toward confidence.
“Before the lottery, I had a friend that
as a joke, bought me a slightly erotic romance novel. The genre was my guilty
pleasure. I use to fantasize from time to time being the heroine that steals
the man’s heart as much as he steals hers, a girl’s foolishness and a woman’s
escape.
It was only recently that Stahl seemed to
haunt my fantasies, and I realized that deep down a part of me that had been
dormant was awakening. Then the other day, I took a good look at the cover, and
realized he looked a bit like Stahl. I told Mink and she suggested that I
should remake my dreams.”
“Tell me about the book, and the details, such as the place, the
costumes, and every detail. I have an idea where we can create your world. I’ll
show you after we discuss the details.” Rose showed Lily one the unused rooms
on the far end of the wing. They used to be animal runs, till those were
changed and rebuilt. The size was nice, ample room. Several average bedrooms
could fit in the place. With a little extra help, from some discreet friends,
the romance novel began to leave the pages, and enter the real world.
***
It took a couple of weeks. But in the end
it was worth it. The once dreary looking room was now a forest with a small
cave on the side of a mountain. This was concealed by a water fall. The room
wasn’t a room anymore but a sanctuary of sorts.
The children were spending time with their
grandparents. So Lily decided it was the perfect time for her and Stahl to
spend some time alone together. When Stahl entered his room he found a complete
outfit lay out on the bed with a note lying on top of a black leather jacket.
He scanned the note and put on the outfit.
He looked at himself in the mirror. Not
his usual wardrobe choice, but it looked good on him. Tight, form fitting black
pants, a cream white shirt that buttoned, with a deep red leather jacket that
had three buckles that closed it. He had mid calf high boots in a soft black
velvet.
Lily, was also looking at her reflection,
and was amazed at how different she looked. Her hair now had soft curls in it; it
was pulled up in a loose bun. Several strands of hair were framing each side of
her face. She had just a touch of makeup on, just enough to enhance her natural
beauty. She had a corset style top, in an emerald green color, with gold lacing
in the back. She had a matching green velvet skirt with a gold belt. Green and
gold ankle boots on her feet. She had a short jacket that matched the outfit.
The jacket covered her arms and chest when the two buttons were shut, as they
were now.
Lily, snuck down the hallways to the room,
and finished the final touches. Rose had sent the massage oil and food she had
wanted. Within a few minutes the final touches were done. When Stahl entered
the room, he couldn't believe that this was once a holding pen for hounds.
“You look lovely.” Stahl said as he sat
next to her, where she waved him on the fur blanket. They had a lovely and
simple dinner. Some fruit, hare stew and bread. Lily, had given Stahl a copy of
the novel, it was one of her favorites. She just never asked if he read it. But
his next actions confirmed he had.
After they had a dessert, a simple one of
strawberries and whip cream, a little time to talk and relax, Stahl took the
lead, just like the character in Lily’s book. He looked at Lily with a
mischievous gleam in his eyes, and took off his jacket. Then he began to
unbutton his shirt.
“Care to join me for a swim?” He asked as
he seductively undid each button of his shirt.
“Maybe, but you’ll have to unlace me.”
Lily turned around and as soon as Stahl had his shirt off, he loosened the
ribbon on Lily’s corset top. She hid behind a nearby tree, while Stahl took his
boots off, soon followed by his pants. Lily began to undress. She did peek
around the tree to see, Stahl buck naked and headed toward the lake. She found
herself gazing as his muscled back and focus on his perfectly firm butt. She
watched him dive into the water.
In a few minutes, she followed him, sneaking
into the water when his back was turned. She swam to him, and let him pull her
close. She let him steal a bunch of kisses, and during one of the more heated
kisses, Lily’s hand moved down his back and grabbed his butt. She whispered in
his ear.
“I want all of you; I want to give you
all of me.” In came out a bit huskily. Stahl could touch the bottom of the once
pool, so he swept Lily up in his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck;
the water was deep enough to keep her covered. As soon as they were near the
cave, Stahl put Lily down and she climbed out of the lake and entered the cave.
Stahl’s eyes wondered toward her butt.
It was tad chilly and Lily had wrapped a
blanket around herself. Stahl got a fire going and looked at the pile of fur
and blankets that made a bed on the cave floor. Lilly was sitting on it and
almost in the center. As Stahl approached, Lily drank him in, every muscle,
eyes wandering from the top of his damp hair to his bare feet and everything in
between. He sat cross from her, and she grabbed his face urging him to kiss
her. As they did, she wrapped her arms around his neck and drew him down toward
her.
“I trust you.” She said while breathing
just a bit heavier. He removed the blanket just enough to reveal her chest. He
started by exploring her neck with nips, and kisses, in a way that fanned the
flames of the fire building up inside of Lily. Stahl now had his hands softly
caressing her arms, pushing Lily closing to the edge. He let the moment build,
he had waited a long time for this, and he wanted it to be memorable.
He soon opened the rest of the blanket and
gazed at Lily, just long enough to drink her in. She opened her legs, lying her
feet flat on the bed, knees bended. He went in for another kiss, and let his
hands explore her legs, as her hands moved down his back again, again toward
his butt, but this time she softly urged him to take her, she was ready to be
one with him.
Stahl slowly and gently took her. Then he
did something she didn't expect. He gently grabbed her, and flipped her so she would
be on top and him on the bottom. He took his hands and put them on her hips,
guiding her motions, subtly still she was comfortable with the change. That was
when his hands grabbed her butt. He sat up and she wrapped her legs around
Stahl, and their lips met.
Lily felt free and empowered. She knew she
was ready to be his wife. The past didn't hold her in shackles any more. She
truly was free. Her dreams were coming true. They fell asleep in each other
arms. When Stahl woke in the morning, he noticed Lily was wearing his
engagement ring. He had told to her to keep it, and when she was ready to wear
it. It was his way of saying, I will always be in love with you and I will
wait, no matter how long. He wasn't sure where she had hid it or when she had
put it on. All he knew that his dreams were finally unfolding into reality.
***
Even though Lily wasn't happy about all
the fuss over her and Stahl getting married, no one was going to let her get
away with a simple ceremony. She deserved a nice wedding for friends and
family. So she gave in.
Since she didn't have any family of her
own, Michael, was the closest she had to a father, so he gave her away. Auna
was flower girl, and Rave was the ring bearer. Rose, Key, and several of her
closer female friends were Matrons and Maids of Honor. Even Prospera was there
for the ceremony.
Lily decided not to wear white. She chose
a forest green and dark brown dress. It was long sleeved. The brown and green
perfectly balanced and entwined with each other. Her boots were ankle high and
did the same. She wore her hair pulled back loosely with a veil a delicately
laced veil hanging from a wreath of wild flowers.
Stahl was in suit designed to match Lily.
He had brown mid calf high boots that blended with the pants. An off white
shirt, under his long sleeved green jacket. He smiled as Lily came down the
aisle. The day was perfect, as fairy tale as it could it. A perfect ending…no, a
perfect fresh start for Lily.

The Legend of Hercules
For the record, Hercules, is Roman, Heracles, is Greek.
I wasn't that interested in seeing this film. The trailers did nothing for me. I wasn't expecting anything from this film, and sadly, it didn't prove me differently.
Hercules, is one the best known stories form Greek / Roman mythology. I don't have issues of changing certain aspects of the tale to make it a bit more of unique telling. But this movie falls short, of doing the myth justice. I really enjoyed Immortals but it kept the balance of the myth and freshened the tale a bit, to make it newer.
Hercules, falls way short of the balanced nicely line. The big scene, seemed biblical to me, hmmm, Samson comes to mind, chained between two pillars and pleads to God to let him have his vengeance. The big fight scene, wasn't enough of mythic proportions. Too much of a massacre and not a fight, at all.
Story was too much of a failed blend of gladiator/arena tales, star crossed lovers, and a failed attempt of a revolution to free the kingdom from a tyrant king tale. Twelve labors, and one is looked at.
Yes, some of the myth around this hero were used, names for instance. But sadly, its liked they skimmed through the myth, blindly pointed at a few things to include in the film, and milked down Hercules, from a re-known hero, the son of The God of Gods, Zeus, and milked him down, to being a mere mortal, who was blessed with a good set of genes, and nothing more.
It takes time to build up a hero status. Less, romance, and spiteful family affairs. More on Hercules, growing into his demi-god status, would have made a much better film.
Not worth paying for the 3-D, or even the ticket price. Not awful, but I would wait to rent it. At least, I didn't leave the theater disappointed.
Looking for a good mythic type film try Immortals, or the original Clash of the Titans. The remake wasn't bad, but I like the original better. There are others out there, Jason and the Argonauts, has several versions, that were good. Wasn't much into the Disney Hercules, though. Had nothing to do with being animated.

Belladonna by Anne Bishop
This the second book in The Epherma trilogy. Not sure if I spelt that right. The first book is Sebastian.
I was surprised with Sebastian and really enjoyed the book. But Belladonna, felt a tad bit too long, and I wanted to hear the tale of The Warrior of Light. It is after all, an important piece of the puzzle. But over all, the story moved well, and I liked seeing the enemies point of view, from time to time. The way it worked and thinks. I would have enjoyed a bit more romantic interaction between Belladonna and her beau.
Still, this installment was a good read for the most part. Just felt that a few twinks could have made it more of an enjoyable read. It didn't quite have the balance I usually find in Bishop's tales. But worth reading, none the less. Another beautiful emergence into a fantasy landscape.
