This book is first a spin off series of The Others. The
first book in The Others is Written in Red. I was not drawn into that series
but loved the world and most of the characters that inhabit it. You will not be
lost if you haven’t read the other series. Silent Lake is the first in The
World of The Others series.

I have enjoyed
most of Ann Bishop’s works. Though as I have said I did not like Written in Red,
I really enjoyed this tale in the world of the others. Interesting characters.
A main character you care about and can follow through her world, caring about
those in that world, and a story that is well weaved and interesting. I hope
number two is just as good.
